Veterinarians

Charlie Carter
Owner and Veterinarian
BVSc (Hons), Dip Pract Mgt
Charlie grew up on a property near Young, NSW, where his love of animals and farming began at an early age. He graduated from the University of Sydney in 2000 and started his career in mixed animal practice, developing a strong passion for cattle medicine.
After working as a veterinarian in the UK and travelling overseas, Charlie returned to Australia and joined the practice in Moss Vale in 2006. His professional interests include cattle medicine and surgery, small animal medicine, and wildlife care.
Charlie has been involved in the rehabilitation of birds of prey for over 15 years through Australian Raptor Care and Conservation Inc. He also works as a cattle veterinarian at the Royal Easter Show and is accredited in both manual and ultrasound pregnancy testing. Charlie holds a Diploma of Practice Management from the University of New England.
Outside of work, Charlie enjoys travelling with his wife Edwina and family, gardening, playing sport, and spending time with his children and their dogs.

Eliza D'Arcy-Moskwa
Owner and Veterinarian
BVSc, BScEq (Hons)
Eliza first completed a degree in Equine Science before pursuing her passion for veterinary medicine. She graduated with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science from the University of Sydney in 2016 and soon after moved to the Southern Highlands with her husband, Joel.
While Eliza has a broad range of veterinary interests, she is particularly passionate about small animal medicine and surgery, with a special love for caring for pocket pets. She also has a strong interest in canine reproduction and is highly skilled in laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery, providing advanced care and minimally invasive options for her patients.
Outside of the clinic, Eliza enjoys life in the Highlands with Joel, her two children, Zoe and Austin and their many animals, including her horse Lad, dogs Hercules and Hammer, cat Ana, guinea pigs and chickens.

Angus Hayes
Owner and Veterinarian
BVSc MVS
Angus is a second-generation veterinarian with over 15 years’ experience caring for pets in the Southern Highlands. He graduated from the University of Sydney in 2001 and worked in the Hunter Valley and the UK before returning to Australia and completing a Master of Veterinary Studies in small animal internal medicine and emergency care.
After moving back to the Southern Highlands in 2010, Angus helped develop Bowral Veterinary Hospital into a leading regional practice. He has now joined Southern Highlands Vet Centre, bringing extensive experience and a strong focus on internal medicine, diagnostic imaging, airway surgery (BOAS), and canine reproduction.
Outside of work, Angus enjoys time with his wife, Genevieve, and their sons, Teddy and Hugo, camping, travelling, and life with their dogs.

Chayse Holland
Veterinarian
BVetBiol, BVSc
Chayse grew up on sheep properties in Bathurst and Crookwell, developing a strong foundation in mixed animal practice from an early age. She studied veterinary science at Charles Sturt University in Wagga and worked in a local clinic for two years before moving to the Southern Highlands in 2023 with her fiancé, daughter, and her horses and dogs.
Chayse is an exceptional mixed practice veterinarian who enjoys diagnostic work and has special interests in horses, working dogs, dog behaviour, and soft tissue surgery.
Outside of work, Chayse loves cooking and the outdoors, including gardening, AFL, hockey, running, fishing, camping, hiking, and skiing. She shares her life with her stock horse and two kelpies, Heath and Betty.

Max Lloyd
Veterinarian
BAnVetBioSc (Hons), DVM
Max graduated from the University of Sydney in 2021 and joined our practice in January 2022. With a passion for both small and large animals, Max has a particular interest in surgery across all species.
He is currently undertaking a Master’s degree in Surgery at the University of Sydney, and while his studies keep him busy, we are fortunate to have him working with us one weekend each month.
Outside of veterinary life, Max enjoys spending time with his friends, family, and his much-loved dog, Dudley. He is also an avid traveller, especially when the destination involves snow and a slope to ski down.

Mathilda Harrop
Veterinarian
BVetBiol, DVM
Matilda graduated from the University of Sydney and has recently joined our team. Originally from Sydney, she enjoys spending time at her family farm in Cootamundra and working with both small and large animals. Matilda loves the variety and challenges of a busy mixed animal practice.
Matilda’s calm and thorough nature helps her manage complex cases and provides reassurance for animals that may be anxious or worried about vet visits.
Outside of work, Matilda enjoys spending time with friends and family, travelling, playing tennis, and going to the beach.

Jodie Moretti
Head Nurse
RVN, Certificate IV Veterinary Nursing, Certificate II Animal Studies, Certificate III Captive Animal Management, RVN AVANT
Jodie started working for SHVC in March 2021. She is a qualified and Registered Veterinary Nurse. Jodie loves all aspects of Nursing and meeting all your furry, feathered and scaly pets. Jodie previously worked as a zookeeper for 13 years and brings a strong passion for exotics and wildlife into the clinic. Jodie is a strong advocate for our wildlife receiving the best veterinary care, and is looking to create an exotics/wildlife ward within the clinic to better meet their needs.
Outside of work, you’ll find Jodie looking after her own menagerie with her partner, daughter and their Bull Arab, Kali. Jodie also has two cats, Kimba and Chilli, and a hoppy little 3-legged goat called Poppy.

Sarah Jones
Senior Nurse
Cert IV Veterinary Nursing, Cert III Animal Studies
Sarah became part of the team in late 2024 after completing 5 years as a veterinary nurse, having worked at two other veterinary hospitals. Sarah’s career goals are to continue expanding her knowledge in all aspects of Veterinary nursing in a mixed practice both surgical and medical with a growing passion for wildlife.
At home, Sarah and her family have a snake, Dorian, a cat, Olive, as well as 3 dogs, Bonnie, Koby and Ruby, who are accompanied by the horses Meg, Red and Sam.
When Sarah is not at SHVC, you’ll find her on a horse, in a camp chair or relaxing at home with a game of chess.

Alice Hinde
Nurse
Certificate III Animal Studies, Certificate IV Veterinary Nursing, RVN
Alice joined our senior nurse team in September 2021 and has been a qualified veterinary nurse since 2013. Alex loves working with our feline patients and has previously worked in a cat specialist hospital for 6 years. Alex is also our orphan animal specialist, hand-rearing any kittens or puppies needing that extra special start to life. When not at work, Alex has her own menagerie at home, including her 2 dogs, 2 cats, 2 alpacas, chickens, cows, a donkey and her horse, Minnie.
Alice joined the clinic in April 2014 after working for 10 years at the local animal shelter. She completed her Certificate IV in Vet Nursing in 2019 and continues her passion for animal welfare and adoption, thoroughly enjoying building great relationships with our clients and their pets.
When not at work, you will find Alice chasing after her menagerie – including Connor the greyhound, Audrey the dachshund x, Mabel the moggie, Rex the spotted python, 3 hens (Agnes, Agatha and Gertrude) and last but certainly not least, her 3-year-old son, Finley!

Josie Meuleman
Nurse
Certificate IV Veterinary Nursing
Josie started working with us in February 2019 and is currently finishing her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing. Josie is a local girl who grew up in the Highlands and has a love for all animals, especially dogs. She enjoys all areas of medical and surgical nursing. Josie enjoys camping on her weekends and hanging out with her Golden Retriever.

Matilda East
Nurse
Cert IV Veterinary Nursing, Cert III Animal Studies
Matilda joined the SHVC team early in 2025, after 6 years working at another local small animal practice. She enjoys every aspect of vet nursing; however, she takes a deeper interest in radiology, the intricacies of surgical nursing, and shows a growing enthusiasm for wildlife care.
Matilda has been working with horses for over 15 years, practising her skills on her horse Twistie. She also owns two cats: Bruce and Toph, and her Kelpie, Kevin, who were all brought home from work.
Matilda likes taking Kevin out to coffee, spending time with horses and playing soccer.

Alex Arteaga

Olivia Pike
Nurse
Certificate III Animal Studies, Currently Studying Bachelor of Nursing (human)
Olivia started working at SHVC in November 2022. She holds a Certificate III in Animal Studies and is currently completing a Bachelor of Nursing at Western Sydney University. Olivia finds working with animals a rewarding experience that allows her to make a positive difference in their lives, and this passion for caring for others has inspired her to expand her skills into human health care. She enjoys caring for all SHVC patients and takes pride in providing gentle, compassionate support to both pets and their owners.
When she isn’t at work, Olivia is a keen skier who looks forward to the snow season each year. She also enjoys spending time outdoors with her Alaskan Malamute, Luna, and is often busy with her nursing studies.

Madelynne Herbertson

Madelynne is a fully qualified Certificate IV Veterinary Nurse with two years of clinical nursing experience and three years as a zookeeper. Her unique background has equipped her with focused expertise in wildlife and exotic species, which she loves incorporating into the clinical setting. Whether caring for parrots, reptiles, or small mammals, Mads is passionate about ensuring every patient feels safe, comfortable, and well cared for.

Claudia Mulholland

Cert IV Veterinary Nursing, Cert II Animal Studies
Claudia became part of the SHVC team in early 2024 after 3 years working as a qualified dog trainer. Claudia loves having the opportunity to care for and make a real difference in the lives of animals, while supporting their owners. It brings her immense happiness and pride.
Claudia is committed to continuously developing her skills to offer the best care possible for your pets.
Claudia has two labradors of her own, Mahli and Sarabi, who she loves taking on bush walks and for swims at the beach.

Gabriella Pedroza
Trainee Nurse
Certificate II Animal Studies
Gabby joined the SHVC nursing team in May 2025 after making a lasting impression during her Certificate II placement. Her passion for animal care and natural empathy quickly stood out, making her a valued addition to the clinic.
As a veterinary nurse, Gabby thrives in the fast-paced, rewarding environment of veterinary medicine, where no two days are the same — filled with new challenges, learning opportunities, and plenty of cuddles. Her genuine love for animals shines through in everything she does.
Gabby is beginning her Certificate IV studies in 2026, and we are excited to see her grow and help all our patients.
Outside the clinic, you’ll usually find Gabby enjoying the outdoors, whether it be the beach or a highlands hike.
Receptionists

Judi Simmons
Practice Manager
Ass. Dip in Animal Science
Judi’s qualifications in Animal Science and her experience in medical science, education support and managing her own menagerie of animals are the perfect foundation for her role as practice manager and looking after our clients on reception.
Judi grew up in Canberra with a lifelong love of animals. She worked at a large mixed practice vet clinic in Canberra whilst studying, volunteering as a wildlife carer and then gained employment in medical research at the ANU, which lasted over 15 years.
Ten years ago, Judi, with her family and that menagerie we mentioned earlier – Iris the dog, Sage the cat, chickens, and newly adopted from the shelter, Esme the cat – made the move to the Southern Highlands for a tree change. When Jude isn’t at SHVC, you’ll find her bushwalking and spending time with her family and pets.

Barbara Napier
Office Manager
Barbara has worked at the clinic since 1992 as a receptionist/bookkeeper. She spent the previous 10 years working in a medical practice in Sydney. Coming from a family of doctors and vets, it is little wonder that she ended up working in this field.
She enjoys the challenge of organising a busy mixed practice, but in particular enjoys the daily interaction with friendly, regular clients. Outside of work, Barbara enjoys walking. She also enjoys spending time with her 3 children and 8 grandchildren.

Michelle Davies
Reception
Michelle grew up on the South Coast of NSW and moved to the Southern Highlands in 2012. Michelle comes from a medical reception background, working at a very busy hospital down the coast and a local Southern Highlands doctors’ surgery. It has always been a dream of Michelle’s to work in the animal health care industry, so Michelle excitedly joined us in late 2024 and is looking forward to helping all the SHVC clients and their animals.
In her life outside of SHVC, Michelle loves camping and adventures with her family, both two and four-legged.

Holly is a very well-loved 2-year-old Corgi that is owned by our business manager, Barb. You will find Holly keeping an eye on the clinic, sitting beside Barb most days.
