Charlie Carter

Owner and Veterinarian
BVSc (Hons), Dip Pract Mgt

Charlie grew up on a property outside Young NSW. As a young boy and teenager, he spent many hours helping his Dad on the family farm.

One of his strongest memories is when he found eastern rosella chicks on his property and hand raised them, and from that moment on he knew he wanted to become a vet.

Charlie graduated from the University of Sydney in 2000. After graduating, he worked in a mixed animal practice in the Central West of NSW where he developed a passion for working with cattle.

Following this, he moved overseas working as a vet in the UK and travelling through Europe, Africa and Central America. He then spent 2 years in a small animal surgery in Sydney before joining Bill Beresford in Moss Vale in 2006.

Charlie’s special interests include cattle medicine and surgery, small animal medicine and also wildlife. Charlie has spent 15 years looking after Australia’s unique birds of prey in association with Peg McDonald and their non for profit organisation Australian Raptor Care and Conservation Inc. Through this program he has spent many years treating and rehabilitating birds of prey in order for them to be released, as well as satellite tracking some of these birds upon their reintroduction to the wild.

Charlie also enjoys working at the Royal Easter Show as a cattle veterinarian each year. Charlie is accredited for the National Cattle Pregnancy Scheme for both manual and also ultrasound pregnancy diagnosis. He has also completed a diploma in Practice Management with the University of New England.

He enjoys travelling with his wife Edwina, gardening, playing basketball and touch footy in the local comps, and spending time with his daughter Poppy and sons Archie and Jonty. He also has a Labrador Scout and a miniature Dachshund Buddy who are great friends and love hanging out together.
